Lars Christensen appointed Research Associate at Stellenbosch University
Lars Christensen, Markets & Money Advisory Founder and CEO, LC@mamoadvisory.com, @
I am very pleased to announce that I have been appointed Research Associate with the Department of Economics at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
Needless to say, I am very proud and happy about the appointment, which brings me into contact with world-class academics and students at South Africa’s oldest university.
The appointment means that I will contribute to the research, particularly on monetary matters, being conducted at Stellenbosch University, and gives me the opportunity to work closely with the faculty on research projects. This should also bring me regularly to South Africa.
I look forward to giving my first lecture at Stellenbosch University in 2018.
The appointment is a natural continuation of my research on monetary policy, which I have been undertaking in close cooperation with Hylton Hollander, an accomplished lecturer at Stellenbosch University.
This year, Hylton and I co-authored the paper ‘Monetary Regimes, Money Supply and the US Business Cycle since 1959: Implications for Monetary Policy Today’, and we plan to continue this fruitful cooperation in coming years.
Among other things, our research will focus on demography’s importance for monetary policy and how monetary policy functions in small open economies and emerging markets – particularly in Africa.
I also hope that my two decades of experience in the private and public sectors will benefit the faculty and students at Stellenbosch University, helping bridge the gap between academia, industry and policy. This is a matter very close to my heart, and I am particularly happy to be able to pursue it in South Africa.
I believe that my appointment as a Research Associate will strengthen the work we do at Markets & Money Advisory, allowing us to give even better advice to our clients – policymakers and investors alike.
Finally, to reassure our European and particularly our Danish clients, Markets & Money Advisory remains headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark.
